I picked this one up at my 1st ever Searle sale visit about 14 months ago. A 7g Beccariophoenix fenestralis. I was going to put it in out front, but it seemed very unhappy here at first…. yellowy and burny and deficient for months. So I put an younger Alfredii instead. After a while, I figured out Fenestralis didn’t like heavy Florida sun at all at this size, and that it needed tons of water, and heavy nitrogen and potassium.

Today I uppotted it from 7g to 15g, and basically realized that it’s a bit out of control now. I don’t have the right shady spot with lots of room for this one, at this age. It seems fast, hungry, and big here. But I feel it wants just the right conditions and can be a bit finicky. With the summer heat it seems to be picking up speed again.
