Why on earth would you think of cutting that palm????  Asking for a friend.

It looks great-nice healthy palm....  it will green up when the soil temps rise.

Also, fertilizer is useless unless the soil temps are well above 50F preferably

For the best health of the palm don't trim any fronds till they are completely brown.

just dug up the palm and to my suprise there was a small pool of water underneath the palm rootball and i didnt cut any roots and to be honest im not sure if the roots grew during its first year in ground so i amended it with a mixture of multipurpose compost, store bought topsoil and perlite with chicken manure blended in.

will this help drainage?

I'm going to go dig up some graves tonight and see if anyone is alive.

Trachys don't care about standing water or heavy clay.  These palms love water.  There was no need to dig that palm up, it was perfectly healthy and looks exactly like I would expect it to after winter.  As @Jimhardy has stated it should green up once the soil temps warm up.  Adding in those nutrients will help, but I would've top dressed them instead.

A bit of friendly advice - the more you mess with the palm the more you're going to set it back.  Some of the nicest Trachys are the neglected ones.  And don't expect them to look perfect,  these aren't that type of palm.
