Yeah yeah, growing these from seeds is futile, but at 4.00$ a packet, why not. 

The surprise is top left corner, little bugger was this crawling.:yay:

That’s a palm weevil. They often are on the seeds of palmettos. Usually you want to treat the seeds to kill them. There are people on here who have experience with these and can provide better advice.

This ^^^.  That is the adult stage of the Palm Seed Weevil which lays an egg in the seeds of certain palms, while it doesn't affect others.

Rub the seeds between a couple pieces of wood or a brick & concrete to remove the outer covering. Seeds that have larvae in them you can crush easily pressing on the wood or brick. Then just go ahead with your germination.  No need for insecticide.  I use insecticide on the ones I store to sell over months but not really necessary when you're going to germinate them right away.

Hey thanks for putting a name on that insect...guess I'll be keeping a careful eye on that ziplock bag, since I'm germinating with the baggy method.  Thanks ya all.
