I started noticing the dates growing on my sylvester palm in early March and now they are already falling off, so I guess I’m not getting any dates off this tree.
Should I just cut off the date branches?

Yes. Pollination was not successful,so undeveloped dates just fall off. You need to hand pollinate if no male Phoenix species are nearby. (if trying to produce seeds)

The edible date palm is Phoenix dactylifera, not sylvestris. I’m not sure sylvestris even produces edible dates. Dactylifera is a dry heat desert palm that produces inferior fruit in hot, humid climates.
