With a husk, I got them from Walmart, I picked the biggest ones with the most water and best shape.

With a husk, find somewhere hot and sit them about half buried in the planting medium.  It helps to mark the top with a magic marker so if you check for germination, you can set them back in the same orientation.  At a garden I visited yesterday, a shared tip was to sprout them in compost or manure that heats up as it decomposes.  It seemed to work pretty well as there were tons of coconuts in pots.

I'm surprised Walmart would sell any with a husk.  If they looked like this, then they were dehusked:
