I'm seeing a forecasted low anywhere from 18-22F Sunday morning . That will blacken and crisp up these Trachy inflorescences ,  as well as  ruin a lot of blooms on a lot of other   plants . It's too bad because this is a nice showy place to see those inflorescences from inside the house .

What's your low tonight ?

@Will Simpson we're forecasted to see 25 here in Myrtle...the system that moved through this morning was packing some serious wind gusts too (50-70mph), fun stuff

Dave , this really sux . I hope my Citrumelo isn't too progressed  by now and the new growth and possible buds  don't get zapped .

Bottoming out at 22 F. here in Metro NJ/NYC. I decided to cover up my Trachy again. I know, it's crazy! But you're not alone, temps dropping into the 20's and 30's in Florida to the Gulf Coast.  Here is one of mine before being wrapped up again.

Here in south Alabama we’re expecting record lows for this time of year, it’s supposed to be 22 tonight then high 50’s in the day tomorrow. Then it’s back to the 70’s.  I’m disappointed with this cold spell, my trees are blooming and everything is growing then it’s getting zapped tonight.

Texas had the freeze this morning. I hit 30F, and I covered things in bloom. I didn’t get too bad. San Antonio to Dallas had a hard freeze with mid 20s.

If it gets down to 18F it will be the 3rd coldest night this winter .

The coldest is 16F , then 17F , then possibly in the morning ?

I know what you mean . Lots of blooms will get zapped . The main plant I worry about is my Citrumelo . It likes to bloom pretty early and a late hard freeze can cut back on how exotic it looks later in the year .

I'm thinking it's too early to hurt it , but I don't really know being that 18-22F is pretty extreme for this time of year .

Good luck .

My trachys have endured nights as low as upper teens and low 20's all winter.  No protection.  They look fine.  Even my two little princeps look fine.  I also have a bunch of Washingtonia seedlings that still look great.  About half of my CIDP are dead though.  I got seed from about three different ebay vendors and one of them must have sent me some hybrid seeds.
