I consider my location to be on the equator. At about 3 degrees S I can drive to the equator in about 5 hours. The only thing that changes when you drive across the equator is that seasons flip. I am going up over the equator on Thursday more than likely. It is dry season there in Boa Vista now. As to water temperature there is no ocean here, but the river temperatures stay pretty constant. On the surface it stays around 80 F all year. When you dive down a bit it drops down a bit and is cooler.
