Perfect day for tackling the side bed edging rehab, re-burying some drip i'd dug up when removing grass last spring,  and eliminating some lingering Bermuda grass trouble spots in the street facing bed out front..

After a few hours of real work, and adjusting everything a few times, side bed is pretty much done..   Will need to tweak the back edge a hair more but, about as straight as it will get.  Have to cut a piece of block to fill the gap where the circle is.

Start working on the grass that re invaded the bed tomorrow.

🤔 the idea of attaching some sort of brick or cut stone to the top of the block instead of just filling the holes in it w/ gravel like i did out back.. That side of the front yard is a touch high and adding another 3-5" of height would make it harder for the Bermuda to creep up over the block / Make edging that area easier.

Unless i decide to before hand, next month, i'll finish the section where the Blue line is,  and start on both sides of the gravel path i'd cut along the front of the house,  Between the shade bed and lawn area..  ( Green lines )

Oh god you just triggered me by saying the BG words. I'm going to have to dig a pretty good sized L shaped bed for bananas and palms over the winter. I was told 4 feet wide by 1.5-2 feet deep was ideal for the species I'm planting in the spring.

I do not look forward to this and I think I might just trench it and do like a mini raised bed with 2x4s and strips of 5 oz (I know I know) weed barrier and just pile.on mulch and mound everything up. My plan is banana, space, Sabal, space, banana, space, Sabal, space, repeat until.i run out of both. I want to give the bananas room to pup to sell those off, and try to get the taller ones some wind protection behind the oak and crape myrtles. It's gonna look really funny for a few years with 10 foot bananas and maybe 6 inch tall palms, but in about 15 years or so it'll be nice.
