I have a lot of palms that I season outside and protect from Winter, Roystoneas in my experience are prone to mealy bugs indoors and I've tried more than once. If you like the look, Queens are somewhat similar looking but cold hardier, only they as the Roystoneas grow tall, so my Queens overwinter in a loft, detached garage from December 1-March 1st in my zone and microclimate.

Oh, lordy do they.

In theory, if you have an enormous house, with 100 foot high ceilings, they should be a good houseplant.

In practice, they get really wimpy if they don't get enough light, which even an enormous house won't be able to provide, unless you rip the roof off . . .

Thank you Dave, that is a very generous offer on the seeds, but think i will take a pass.  Not a great time of the year to start palms from seed in the Northeast, but may take a raincheck on it.
