What fertilizer do I use for my Sylvester palms?

Featured Replies

What type of fertilizer is best for my two 9ft tall Sylvester palms? Also how much fertilizer should I use per tree?

I’m no expert but Ive been using palmgain and the results are noticeable. 2-4 days after application the color of the leaflets and petioles is much improved. Its harder to attribute it but I’d say 3-4 weeks after application there is more vigorous growth. I also use epson salts between regular fertilization. My Sylvesters do not yet have a trunk but are about 5’ tall. All that said I plan to switch to Florikan fertilizer since all parts are time release instead of just the N. Sul Po Mag is also a better choice than plain epsom salts (magnesium) since it can maintain the balance between magnesium and calcium I think. Otherwise you can put your soil nutrient levels all out of whack. Parting thought is that in a pinch Palmgain will do the trick.

Also no expert but I've been using a slow release 9-4-9 blend and all my palms seem to love it
