It's the garden that no one knows about.  Kind of oddly, David Fairchild's home is part of the National Tropical Botanical Garden, which has 3 gardens on Kauai, one on Maui--and one in Miami.  Kind of oddly, the present director at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden came from the NTBG (Kauai).

I'm among many who haven't visited.

I remember walking the grounds with the caretaker about 30 years ago. David Fairchild was interested in tropical fruits. I don't remember many palms but I do fondly recall that it was mango season and we carried a pocketknife in hand amd sampled all the many varieties. I'm sure someone out there has a more recent recollection.
