I've posted these photos before in hopes other PTers might step up to share some of their palm seedlings with others. Last time my effort was met with resounding silence. Maybe this time will be different

Good lesson, thanks, although I don't plan on shipping any palms in the forseeable future.

If you are in Hawai`i I believe shipping out of state you need some federal dude at the Dept of Ag to inspect your plant.  I took a 4" pot from FB transfered it to a box tried shipping from UPS and the feds I guess scanned it, opened it and said there were white flies on it and either they kept it or destroyed it depending on how honest you think the inspector is/was.

There were NO white flies on it.  It passed inspection to get from the B.I. to O`ahu but not to head to the mainland.  Something is fishy down town.

,,@PalmatierMeg This is text book shipping for palms. @Phil does a wonderful job of shipping palms in containers. Obviously everyone knows how good Floribunda ships too.  I will say this tho USPS has been absolutely terrible lately and I believe the triangle cartons need some reinforcements to keep the box from bending and harming the fronds.

One useful bit to add to the photos...tape the root ball pack to the inside of the box before folding it up.  But don't tape the fronds to the box.  This keeps the heaviest part from moving around.  And (as TJ mentioned) if USPS bends the box up, the root ball stays in place and the fronds are allowed to move around slightly inside.  If you tape both ends then it tends to try to rip the fronds out of the root ball.

The tape on the rootball makes it slightly more inconvenient to open, but drastically improves the condition when I receive the box.
