Idiot construction guys decided to dig SUPER close to the palm's rootball. Will it be ok? This is a beautiful mature King and I would hate, hate to lose it. Is there anything I can do now?

Personally I would be a bit concerned. BUT! Somebody's gonna write in saying "don't sweat it", so take my opinion with a grain of salt. ....and personally I woulda smacked the contractor upside his melon.

I complained when the house painter got splotches of paint on my new 5 g King’s.  These were purported to be the progeny of Inge Hoffman’s frost resistant king’s from seeds in Australia or so the tales have been told.  He suggested he would take $600 off the bill!  Now they are over the roof, and Darold informs me, “you know, these are understory palms”.  I do use Kings in my back yard from Lowe’s to provide shade so my new Palms can get acclimated and then take them out.  Thought my picture included how they are way over my rooftop, oh well Cecile
