Hey Guys, Our night time temps are starting to stay above 10 c I was wondering can Christmas Palm seedlings handle that? They are 8 months old. The photos are them now, I have Trachi seedlings that are loving it :P

Thanks a lot :D

They can take brief drops to 10C (50F) as long as the daytime temps rebound quickly after sunrise to 20C and higher. If they are exposed to many hours/days in the 50s or below 15C, they can die. Adonidias are cool sensitive as well as cold sensitive. How hot are your summer days? Adonidias want lots of sun and heat but introduce them to sun gradually to prevent burn. Also, do not expose them to rain when temps are below 15C. Cold rain is lethal to tropical palms. You will have to monitor them when they are outside and be prepared to move them inside if a cold front hits.

Nice looking seedlings, BTW

Thank You :), Our daytime highs usually average about 22-25, nights are cool though.  Trachy's do great up here, so much so that the Windmill is on the patio three weeks before the frost tender annuals are in the ground :P. I am gonna sell some Christmas Palm seedlings in Canada, I just have no idea how much to charge :/, I would imagine Pygmy's have the same conditions as the Andonidias? Thanks a lot :)

Pygmy Dates are MUCH more tolerant to cool coditions as well as much more cold hardy than Christmas Palms.

Agree with Jim about pygmy dates. Your Adonidias will surely grow much slower than optimal with highs in the low to mid-70sF - their preference is above 30C with nights above 20C. They may cease growing at all below 15C. You will have to monitor them carefully.

Be patient. It can take a few months. It’s best if the soil is warm at all times. New seedlings look like blades of grass.
