Found this at the lakehouse. I have no idea where I found it, but it's tiny and has been flowering for two seasons.

I collect palm seeds and grow them from wherever I find them. I also forget.

Looks like a (new) variety of uber dwarf Sabal minor. In TX this time? My experience with them is that they come true from seed. I'd love to buy some seeds from you if you got any to spare.

Interesting.

I have a volunteer that has flowered from a small size, at around ~1/4 of the rest of mine.  I thought maybe it was just stunted by the conditions in the spot it grew (under a loquat).  Loquat has been gone for a few years (fire blight), and the minor has not got any bigger.  The closest potential parents are NC native minors (sourced Rocky Point NC, blooming at ~4ft frond height), but I do have a few assorted blue pot specials of unknown origin around the yard.

I don't remember it producing many seeds, but I may have run over the flower stalk with the lawn mower, shame....

I will keep a better eye on, and take better care of this one.

Flower stalk and frond of my little guy vs. one of the closest NC native minors and possible parent.

Those wee minors would be great for naturalizing as an understory or groundcover. Very nice!
