snow is getting dumped on the dmv snow is a good insulator agains the cold I have boxes and buckets over my palm seedlings in the backyard luckily they made it through january so once these snowstorms cease they should start growing again luckily I have 0 spear pulls and 4/5 are alive. We have got a 9a winter so far. 18 degrees is said to be the low on wednsday so that would make it a 8b winter hope my palms pull through :)

Snow makes a great insulator , when I lived up north in 2014 we had little snow and some very cold prolonged temps -25f, highes never got above zero. Pipes under roads froze that were nearly 8ft down. Folks wells froze at the pitiless adapters it’s was bad news... mostly because of the lack of snow that usually accompanies cold temps like that. Radiational cooling at its finest, or worst .
