Hi everyone, I'm new here. Just wanted to share with you the effects of my seeding.

So two years ago in October, I germinated phoenix canariensis seeds.

I also have two washingtonia robusta that germinated after two days (!) in warm water last fall.

Currently, for over a week I have been waiting for kentia (howea forsteriana) to sprout, I have two seeds. I soaked them for a week in water at about 25-30 degrees, then I put them in a bag with wet soil and keep them next to a radiator where the temperature of the ground is about 30 degrees.

Also I have a question, how long it usually takes howea forsteriana to germinate? I heard that it can takes a 3 months, but I hope it'll take less time. The seeds are fresh because I bought them at some store where people have seeds from their own palm trees.

@Lady Gaga Welcome to the forums!  Nice work thus far!  Howea tend to germinate pretty slowly for me.  I usually have to wait at least 2-3 months, and sometimes as long as a year.

That's too bad, 3 months seems to be so long. 

I also bought trachycarpus fortunei seeds, and I'm gonna sowing it next week. I know people who said that it takes like a few days, maybe few weeks to germinate. Also it's good palm tree for me to keep it outside - I live in the centre of the Europe so we have cold winters here.

After weeks of waiting, one of my archontophoenix alexandrae just started to germination. I'm so happy, I put it in different pot with mix of the ground and the perlit

Good work. Palm seeds can take weeks to many months to germinate, esp. in winter. It's hard but you must be patient.

Hello and Welcome , I have germinated Christmas Palms and Date Palms with ease. I live in Canada and right now it is a nice -24 outside . I just started to try my luck with Windmill Palms. My Christmas Palms seedlings are exploding in my house with the grow light. These were planted Sept 15th of 2020 and this is what they look like now.. So living where you are shouldn't be a problem

What kind of grow light do you have? Can you give me some details about  color and power? Thanks.

Hey Cristi I use this light and my plants are thriving and I live in a dark apartment, My Windmill and Crotons are very colorful. The color I think is about 3000K it is a very nice light not too bright and fits into a regular light sockets. you have to buy a socket separately.

Hi, my palm is becoming red. What does it mean? Is it normal?

I wanted to check the roots, it died. It was so dry. I don't know why cause the spoil is wet.
