Hello all!

Just want to say "wow!" to all those great pics!  I LOVE plumerias but I have the worst luck with them....  I'm kinda of like a grim reaper to plumerias I guess you could say.  I managed to kill 5 cuttings this season (soon to be six!)  I used a cactus mix and mixed in a lot of pearlite and tried not to water them much at all ... they ended up shriveling so I would try watering them a tiny bit...  they all ended up rotting.  Any advice??

Dear Angela  :)

i request you to try one more time with the pulmeria cuttings !

but all we have to di is change the potting medium and this time around use course washed river sand or better still buy a bag of construction sand bag 40Kg. the grade is big course size..and try with cutting from aged stem not green stem...

i will post stills of it,soon so stay tuned to this page !

And by the way a warm & hearty welcome to our board. :)

Love,

Here is mine.  This tree was triple the size but blew over in Hurricane jean. I had so many plumie branches left-over, I begged people to take them.  :P  I kept 2 larger pieces. They rooted w/ trunks 5-6" in circumference.

Darn! Wish I was around at that time to take some off your hands!!!   Even though you see the white and yellow ones everywhere...  I must say, your plant has the most beautiful flowers I've ever seen  ...  the shape of the petals are exquisite!  That's one thing I love about plumeria flowers, they are so unique...  each plant seems to have it's own special characteristics.

Dear Angela  :)

You are welcome, and i hope you have heard something good about me_ i assume.... :)

And by the way you are right my name is Krishna Achar and for convienence sake and mostly my friends do call me by the name_Kris.so that name came into common usage.

And try to collect pulmerias on soild colours like white,pink.red,yellow.since once they grow tall all that matters is the color & size of the flower and not the flower design !

And one of our memeber from thailand deals with pulmeria verigated leaf.the entire pulmeria tree looks like a croton plant.i will say all to collect these peculier plants to impress onces neighbours than to collect just the regular form !

to see what iam telling visit one of the threads started by him under the username redvdox .check that out either in travel logs or in main discussion board thread.i cannot rememeber it now as to where i saw it.

lots of love to you,

Kris  :)

Hi Kris,

I know you are Indian but where do you live? These days you can't just assume an Indian lives in India :)  Indians have dispersed all over the world!! :D

Unfortunately here in SD Plumerias have a fairly long dormant period.  Of course the amount of sun effects the growth rate as well.  It takes quite a while for plumerias to grow tall.  There is one plumeria I bought almost ten years ago. I planted it in the ground right away- at that time I knew absolutey nothing about soil or drainage. It was about 30cm tall. When we moved I dug it up and planted it again in our new backyard... SOMEBODY started planting a lot of palms so it eventually ended up in the shade.. it managed to squeak out a flower stalk when it was a little over a meter tall but the the stalk shriveled and died...  no flowers, but it was enough effort for it to split and form some branches.  Ugh, after 10 years the dumb thing is only about 5 feet tall... ummm... I'm guessing that's about  1.75 meters??  I really need to learn the metric system!!

And just to let you know, I am an artist and I'm VERY fussy when it comes to picking out plants.... well unless they are super cheap.  To me the shape and form of a plumeria flower is just as important as its color.

Dear Angela  :)

i live in south india at a place once called madras and now its called chennai.very hot wet city.

And i used to have all that details in my signature but was compelled to delet it,since i see some folks want reply my questions.i felt that its breeding some kind of groupisim based on geographic location.so had to erase it_though i did not like doing it.but i did not want the new memebers to behave in that fashion.so when some one asks for my info then i give it !

And by the way iam very happy that this forum is adorned by lots of artist and nature lovers..can we all have the previlage of seeing some of your works_i asume that you are a painter ? Since i admire painters & poets a lot,boy if god had given me more brains and talent i really wanted to paint the vatican or wright a poem on some of our memebers gardens in the william wordsworth style ! i love and adore that late poet.

And one thing i differ in plants collection is the costlier the better for me since i do not want to see my neighbours posses them.if the budget is a constrain i will book for my

item and wait till i have the cash to purschase it.i collect only rare or peculier looking plants to my region..

And i see that you have altered you signature from what it was the previous day ? just curious to now !  :D

Lots of love,

Kris  :)
