Got a couple of palms and some mango trees that is still small and i decide to give them some protection the first winter.

My seup is as follows Stake 4 planks around the palm as a frame, then put transculcent plastic around the sides and staple it to the frame. Put in a thermalcube and a bundle of c9s christmas lights, put some on the ground and some up the frame. Then finally put a tarp on top as a roof that breathes better. i then take the tarp of in fhe morning. How much would heat would this raise inside the mini greenhouse? Lets say I get a severe dip to -5 celcius as an example how warm would it be in the inside. Size of the box is 1x1m wide and 2 meters tall.

it should keep the frost out frost just goes straight down and not across if you made a protection box you could poke the ground inside the box and it would be mushy earth not frozen check out another thread heavy protection there is a link from this guy James Palms.

Yes i seen his videos but i need far from that much protection. I live in 9b the -5 was just an example. Climate here is kind of strange since i live in desert. Frost is very uncommen even going under 0 celcius since it is super dry here. Wheater in the coldest in winter is basicly like 20 celcius days and 5 celcius in the night, and we never have cold tempratures in the day.

hmm you should be fine if your in the desert bc the humidity is so low. anyways I think its 15 degrees higher with 1 layer of foam but it can be 30f higher in there if you did some crazy protection.

It depends on the total watts of the lights and the size of the box.  Most boxes can be brought up 10F over outside easy with lights.  it is pretty easy with insulation to get 20F over outside.

175W seems like plenty.  I put 40-80watts in enclosures that size.  Use a remote thermometer. I tried to get this page to work but it has some tech difficulty on my browser

If you have enough lights you will be 35F/45F if that is the thermocube you choose.

If you have a clear side for the sun to warm it(Southside) you could get 60F- 80F bump in temps

on a sunny day, so a remote thermo in there to watch that would be helpful and you can

open it or cover(shade) it if this happens, if it is not warm enough you can always throw some blankets

on it .
