Plant food vs fertilizer

Hi! 
Is palm plant food the same thing as fertilizer? I was recommended to use shake and feed palm plant food with magnesium and Iron and manganese. If I add this do I still use liquid fertilizer in July?

Better to use slightly less rather than slightly more. And being in NY, your growing season is limited anyway.

I concur with @Johnny Palmseed and add that it’s best to be sparing when feeding indoor palms, based on your stated location in New York.
