Soaking Windmill palm Seeds

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm new to growing palm trees from seeds, I hear some people saying soak them for 24 hrs and others say up to 3 days, what works best

thank you

I think one day is totally fine, some will say it's not required.  The most important thing is that they're fresh seed, if they are it's hard to fail.

I soak 24 hours with 4 oz of progib per gallon of water

Trachycarpus are the one species I dont soak as the seeds are very fleshy and absorb water easily. Anything with a shell I soak.

I'm gonna try soaking 24hrs & 72 hrs and then some of each in baggies and some in soil and just leaving a few in water and changing water every 2-3 days, now I'll try just putting them straight into soil with plastic lid and let it get fresh air and water every few days
