Hi,

I have 2 young Pigmeys, 2 x mas, and one young bottle palm. I have read that you shouldn’t remove any fronds unless they are completely brown. But, what about brown leaves? If a leaf is totally or nearly all brown, can you trim it?

will the frond grow a new leaf? Or do they only grow a leaf in that spot once?

thank you!

Each frond is actually one leaf.  I assume you are talking about the leaflets on each leaf.  Yes if a leaflet is brown you can remove it.  Your consideration is which looks worse, a brown leaflet or the "missing tooth" look.  Up to you.

Thanks for your help! In terms of trimming leaflets, can I snip just the brown parts or wait until the whole thing is brown? Also will the “missing tooth” come back?
thanks again

The missing tooth will remain missing.  As far as removing leaflets, it is pretty much a cosmetic consideration.  Whatever looks good to you.
