    Thanks dave Helpful as allways! just wondering what is the best way to differentiate the different ones is there a guide out there? still waiting for your Radicalis to sprout by the way, then i can finally have a chamadorea that will not burn to pieces when exposed to sun. the elegans gets burned even through my tinted windows even though the window is pointing straight north and the plants being 1 meter from the window, it is crazy.

    Hmm. Your plant should not have burnt through a tinted window facing north.

    But, okay, give it more shade. They'll take low low light, I'd kinda forgotten. I have a group outside in the darkest part of my garden. Houses are caves. We're still cave people, our caves now have running water, flush toilets, central heat and air.

    Looks like chamaedorea cataractarum to me, chamaedorea elegans is solitary This one is  growing indoors in bright light

    I respectfully disagree.

    Cat palms are much much darker and bigger.

    Ok Dave my friend you got me second guessing myself so I looked up both species on palmpedia and unless there are many palms in one pot that  still does not look like  elegans .to me it's hard to tell without (frondling) it. Xoxo

    They usually sell C. elegans in multiples in nurseries and big box stores - at least around here.  I've got both and agree with Dave - my C. elegans inside my fairly dark house is still a much lighter green than my C. cataractum outside in partial shade.

    Yes C elegans multi planted. I’ve rarely seen them as sold as individual stems even though it is a solitary species.
