I'm about halfway through converting all of my sprinklers to drip irrigation using Raindrip products. Today on my 5 millionth trip to Lowes for that one thing I forgot, I noticed the fertilizer pellets you can put in your filter.

They recommend 1 pellet per emitter, which is a lot of pellets to buy at $10 for 30 pellets

Is anyone using the drip filter to fertilize? Do you use something other than the Raindrip pellets? How well does it work? Is there a cheaper source for the pellets?

Any advice or experience you can share will be much appreciated.

Every once in a while I just throw in some Miracle grow into the mix...  I don't know if it actually does anything other than help the weeds to grow faster, but I feel like I'm doin something to contribute to the palms (and it helps clean out my shelves in the garage)...  I still just go throw Nutricoat time release on everything...  That's what really makes the difference. :)

Thanks William... How do you apply the Miracle Gro?  Do you put the Miracle Gro into the drip system directly?

Yeah, nothing fancy...  I just did a little calculation of how much water i use and added the correct amount of blue powder (on the correct side of the filter!) and presto change-o!   FERTIGATION!

I like it! I'll have to give that a try. With about 200 palms and tropicals on the driplines, I'll never be able to afford the raindrip pellets... it'll cost about $75 a shot to try and fertilize that way.

When you use the Nutricote, do you keep it close to the drip area, or just throw it around and let it be?

I just chuck it into the pot!  Doesn't seem to burn too much, and from listening to most guys on here it doesn't seem you can use too much of it.
