Hi! I live in Norway, Scandinavia and am looking to buy a Terminalia Catappa seedling (Tropical Almond or Indian Almond). This plant goes by many names so my lack of success in finding a supplier could be down to me searching under the wrong name. These trees are probably sold in the in the US under a different name. I only managed to find one supplier (Canarius.com) based in the Canary Islands. Here is the link https://www.canarius.com/en/plants/terminalia-catappa-tropical-almond.html They have 2 year old plants in stock which they can send to me but I could not find any reviews or anything else written about them online. Has anyone heard of them or could anyone recommend a better search name or reputable supplier I can try?  Cheers!

I suggest you stick with the Latin binomial as this tree has many confusing common names. It is a tropical tree that can reach 25 meters tall. It is invasive in FL so I won't grow it here. I've never dealt with Canarius but have heard of them and know nothing negative about them. if you can't find seedlings, I suspect you should have little trouble germinating seeds.

Hi everyone,

I’m visiting Tenerife in mid‑April and I’m hoping to find Plumeria obtusa ‘Singapore White’ (Singapore/White Plumeria) while I’m there.

👉 I’m looking for:
• Nurseries or garden centers that sell this variety
• Private growers who might have plants or cuttings
• Local markets or plant swap meet locations
• Any tips on where to look in Tenerife

I’d really appreciate recommendations, contacts, phone numbers, or even a meet‑up if anyone is willing to help! 😊
Thanks in advance!

It is a tree that grows extremely fast. I grew one from a seed and it was 2,5m tall in 2 years (in a pot). Seeds sprout very fast and easily. So, you could look into that option too. I must say though that they have zero cold tolerance. Mine died when left outside in the winter even though the lowest temperature was 4C and it was covered with a thin fleece. Even in Indonesia where I used to live, you'd only see those trees in lowland areas.

It grows so fast that it will be very hard to protect it beyond the first two years or so.
