Looking for climate data

What are some good places to get climate data?  This will be a good thread to gather sources.

Also let's talk about the attributes of each source.

First place that comes to mind is Weather Underground.  I like that I can go to individual weather stations in many locations, not just official stations. Unfortunately I cannot search for just low temperatures.

Was thinking the same thing...  Each time i attempt looking over past data from the closest  individual weather station to me ( less than a mile away.. ) W.U. automatically directs me to the closest "official" WX station,  which in my case is Mesa Gateway Airport ..which is located several miles east of me, in a less developed and typically cooler spot in the East valley. Lows, esp this time of year, can be 2-7 deg lower than the 3 closest individual WX stations.  While a 2deg difference isn't much,  5+ deg is much more significant, esp. when the temps. recorded there are used by the local NWS for "official" records for Chandler by various sources.  Might be accurate out there.. but likely off by X # of degrees on my side of town.  Chandler Reg. Airport is closer, but also sits in a cooler/ less developed ( for now ) sot in the area compared to where i'm at.

That said, between the two.. i trust Weather Underground data much more than .. :rant:in-accuweather..

I am having a great deal of difficulty with WU over the last 6 months .  It seems to be bloated with a lot of push data , causing the beach ball to rotate a lot.

It is nowhere as useful as in the past .  So , I hope that this thread will locate some better sources .

Here are some sources that I use :    https://www.weather.gov/mlb/climate   This is quite interesting , but I haven't seen it as a standard NWS display . Is the Melbourne Fla.

site the only one with this type/ format of info ?

This one requires a lot of patience to learn it  . Wait it out .    https://madis-data.ncep.noaa.gov/MadisSurface/

                     http://www.usairnet.com/weather/maps/current/florida/temperature/

Also seek out various STEM sites , such as :     https://volusia.weatherstem.com/...   or   http://pasco.weatherstem.com

This one has nice displays :    https://www.windy.com/-Temperature-temp?temp,29.307,-82.418,9

Also this is interesting to me :    https://www.ssec.wisc.edu/data/

The best source is to order (free) data from the NCDC though it can be a bit tedious to fill out the request, download it, and manually examine the data (first world problems haha). NOWData from local NWS pages also works well for airports/major weather stations and is usually my first choice. Wunderground is great too but dependent on the station with regards to accurate readings.

Go to the SERCC (South Eastern Regional Climate Center) and they have many climate data available for all the official stations in the southeastern states. Below is the link to the Florida map. Click on a location, then you have a wide range of reports from which to choose. In general, you should avoid the 30-year versions at the top and go to the "period of record" versions for the most accurate long-term information. "Daily Summary Stats" will give you info for each day of the year for the period of record. Florida historical climate data (SERCC)

Many of the regional climate centers (e.g., WRCC in the western U.S.) have data available in the same format. A shortcut is just to type in google the station name and whatever is of the title of the report you're seeking. For example, "Key West daily summary stats" or "Monterey daily summary stats" should take you right to the appropriate page at or near the top of the list of search results. If I know the station I'm looking for I usually do it that way, rather than going through the more formal and time-consuming map system.
