Hello. I want to festoon some things between my palms not I'm not going to use screws or nails. I have access to stainless steel straps that I can secure around the trunks of the palm, and then connect hangers to the straps. It seems like it would be less traumatic than jamming a bunch of screws into an irreparable trunk.

I was wondering if I need to worry about any more expansion in the trunks of the trees. They all have over 10' of clear trunk. I wouldn't want to constrict or harm the palm in any way (obviously). Has anyone done this before and are there any considerations to this before I go "all in"?

Thanks.

You should be fine. once you got a woody trunk they stop expanding. I agree that this is a much better idea than drilling screws into it. The closest example Ive seen to this are those metal cones they strap around the trunks to keep rats from climbing up them.

Around here they plant Sabals by strapping 3 short pieces of 2x4 to the trunk with metal straps.  Then they nail/screw supports into the 2x4 pieces to keep them upright while they are rooting in place.  That keeps them secure without putting holes in the trunk.  If you did something similar I'm sure it would work fine.
