Just wondering if anyone has tried to grow a bonsai Queen palm? The reason I ask is that I have hundreds of seeds germinating on the ground and thought I might have a go at it if it can be done, it'll cost nothing to try and I normally just pull them out anyway or am I wasting my time? I know nothing about growing bonsai plants so if anyone has any thoughts, ideas or suggestions I'd love to hear them, could be a bit of fun. Cheers!

There's a queen palm in front of an old liquor store nearby that's been in a 24" box for over 15 years and it's definitely stunted or bonzai if you will. It's not very pretty though. I've seen bonsai coconuts though and they look incredible.

I've seen pics of bonsai coconuts too, they certainly look pretty amazing! I might just have a bit of a play with the Queens and see what happens, I've got hundreds of seedlings to play with and nothing to lose so why not!

Excuse my ignorance but how does one make a bonsai Queen or coconut, and what do they look like?

I've no idea on how to make a bonsai Queen or if it will work but I'll have a look online and see if I can find something that will give me an idea. Coconuts can be done though, if you Google bonsai coconut palm you should be able to find YouTube clips and photos of them, they certainly look interesting.

Found this pic online.

Those interested in bonsai may consider this talk from Ken Johnson at a CFPACS meeting in 2013 interesting: Bonsai Palms
