I’ve had this palm in the ground for about 4 years now from a 1 gallon. This palm has done quite well here in full shade. Sorry if photos are sideways.

Beautiful. I love the bifid leaf Chamaedoreas like e-a, deckeriana and metallica and I've looked for dammeriana for years. I have 5-6 tall C. e-a. in pots in my jungle for years. I've discovered the hard way this species cannot tolerate my alkaline soil. They go into immediate decline and die within months. They do very well in pot culture but even though I have both sexes the females have never produced viable seeds.

Pushing the limit of palm survivabilities

Bought 200 seed of this palm from RPS a couple of years ago.   I had the impression that Chams were fast germinators,   so I was disappointed when none had germinated over 3 months later.

I was just about to complain to them and bingo first a couple then more the following week,  then large numbers the following week.   In the end I had better than 90% germination

The same thing happened with the C. metallica I bought at the same time.

So the moral of the story is patience is needed.  Dont throw seed our too early.
