Picked this guy up at the grocery store. Picked my share of coconuts up of the beach and husked them but I never came across one that’s just about white like this? Has it been bleached ? I was going to sprout it with my kids for some fun.

Perhaps this is normal??

Thanks

So upon a little digging, apparently these are "young" coconuts. Are they still good for germinating, or should we go ahead and eat it :wub2:

I tried to germinate a white, bleached coconut and it was a complete failure. Just eat it and use the brown dehusked ones for germination.

Coconuts are bleached white to make it easy to identify them as "young". Instead of meat, the inside of those coconuts picked young is mostly water and jelly.
