I was inspecting my greenhouse this morning after the freezing temps and to my surprise, in about half of my potted palms there are earth worms. It looks like castings on top of the soil and then just an inch or so below are worms. Are these beneficial to the potted palms? I know they can feed on roots or disrupt plants.

I think it is a sign of healthy soil. They don't eat roots to my knowledge. Their waste is beneficial.

I've seen this for years, with no apparent effect on the plants.

Thanks everyone. We don’t see many earthworms in AZ, especially in a potted plant!

I PUT earthworms in my potted palms 5 gal or larger when I come across them!
