Awaiting the next batch of storms on a wet, humid Saturday evening.  66F at 8:18PM   -In less than 16 hours, have had more rain than had fallen from any 1 storm during the entire Monsoon. .72" so far today.  Storm responsible for the rain and storms across central AZ ..and a good chunk of S. Cal.. today will slowly slide across the south central part of the state overnight, into New Mexico by the morning hours. Staying on the north / north eastern side of the low pressure headed across the area, plenty of moisture should continue to funnel north from Mexico overnight. Could add another .75" by daybreak.

After tomorrow, looks quiet and warm thru the upcoming week ahead. Maybe another shot of rain next weekend, May have to wait a little longer. Temps. stay in the 80s, nights in the 60s ..maybe heading for the first sub- 60F lows of the season by the start of next week.

As for rainfall totals, Not bad.. Added a little more to the closest stations overnight here. Can see how other spots around and withing Phoenix did as well.

The lows for the rest of the month will be between 52-60f here, that night was warmer than it normally is because of we had cloudy skies all night. Unfortunately I doubt we will see 30c untill next year, sounds like good coconut growing weather. The UV index is already only a 2-3 here at this latitude. Last night it got to 51f because we had clear skies all night and wind coming from the north.

Currently 19.1C / 67F here. Although it is nice and sunny without a single cloud in the sky, the sun has still lost so much intensity already at this northern latitude. It is very hard to get any proper heat during the day now, even if the nights stay pretty mild. There just isn’t enough strength in the sunlight to provide any significant solar heating. The fact we are an island also limits the amount of heat potential, especially at this time of year, although it also mitigates cold potential too. It can be a double edged sword.

Looking at the forecast, there won’t be any nighttime lows below 12C / 54F for London right through to November now, but also no highs above 20C / 68F either. So just mild conditions in general. Palms & exotics will keep growing at least. London can certainly get hot in the summer though with 3 out of the past 4 summers reaching or exceeding 38C / 100F. Sunlight intensity is everything when it comes to getting heat over here. Under this same setup with high pressure and a southerly flow, we would probably be reaching 35C / 95C in July due to strength of sun and solar heating. Instead we’re reaching 20C / 68F.

GFS has Europe in the oven going into November. Temps for the entire continent well above average over the next 10-15 days. A recurring theme for 2022 in general. No sign of winter any time soon on this side of the pond at least!

Currently sitting at 68.5F here.  According to WUndermap, that is about as mild as it gets currently in Lakeland.  The Lakeland area supposed to bottom out near 50F tonight and 49F tomorrow according to Weather.com.  The NWS forecast is 52F overnight tonight and 47F overnight tomorrow.  We'll see how it plays out.

It reached 66.7f/19.2c with 58% humidity in London today. It's currently 60f with 85% humidity the low tonight will be 15c/59f with possibly a few thunderstorms. I found a climate map for the UK that looks fairly accurate, of what the current and future climate will look like. @UK_Palms Would you say the transitioning to a Mediterranean climate areas on the map should be larger in the south east? This shows London as csa, the south coast and parts of the south west as csb and some of East Anglia as bsk.

@Foxpalms Max of 21.1C / 70F here on Wednesday. I was marginally warmer than the capital, although I probably had less cloud cover or something. Overnight low of 15C / 59F as well, which is pretty mild for mid-October.

Regarding climate zones, it is a pretty tricky one. I don't think anywhere over here is a true Med zone, at least not yet. However we appear to be more likely to experience a Mediterranean-like summer than for us to not experience one nowadays. 2 of the past 5 summers have been true summer Med (Csb) for London and southeast England in 2018 and 2022. Then another 2 of the past 5 summers have been real borderline Csb, just narrowly missing out on it in 2019 and 2020. Only 1 of the past 5 summers has not been Mediterranean-like at all, which was 2021 when we had the terrible, cold January - August period, which was really a freak year for us, at least in relation to the other years. 4 of the past 5 summers have been Med-like however, with 2 of the past 5 falling under actual Csb for sure. The whole of southeast England appears to be moving towards Csb, as well as parts of southern and SW England too.

If you look at the trends, it is definitely heading the way of Csb for London and southeastern England at least. There has been a 30% reduction in July rainfall and a 25% increase in January rainfall since 1990 alone as summers become drier and hotter, with winters becoming milder and wetter. London's all time temp record has gone from 35C / 95F in 1990 up to 40.2C / 104F now in 2022, which is a jump of 5C over the past 30 years or so. There appears to be some evidence of the Azores high extending further east into western Europe and bringing drier, hotter conditions to the south of England especially, which are more akin to warm-summer Med nowadays. Clearly winters are nowhere near as bad anymore either, as evidenced by all the palms and exotics growing here now. We just don't get the same amount of cold as they got say 50 years ago. Nowhere near.

Basically if anyone is trying to do a case study to prove that global warming & climate change isn't real, they shouldn't use the UK and London as an example. The evidence is really quite telling. Even if you don't look at the data, just the big CIDP's, Washingtonia, Yucca's etc tells you all you need to know about how much the climate has already shifted here. I mean CIDP is now naturalised in London for heavens sake lol. In fact I have just located yet another 30+ foot Washingtonia with seeds on in east London that I haven't posted about before. Says it all really. I reckon London will be true summer Med pretty much every year by 2030, the transition is that aggressive. I reckon we are 50% likely to experience another true Csb summer again next year as well. 40% likely to have a borderline Csb summer and only 10% likely to have a cool, wet summer.

@UK_PalmsI agree, I think the map is for what the climate will be in the coming years. This summer was a csb for most of the south east, central London was an exception though, some parts were a csa because July and Augusts average temperature was over 22c. This map using data from space also proves the urban areas in London during the July heatwave were hotter than anywhere else, which proves the metoffice only having stations at airports and large parks makes the temperature record highs significantly lower than it probably was. Some of the predictions say by 2050 the winters will be similar to Athens winter and the summers will be similar to Barcelonas. I'm not sure it will increase that much but still interesting.

Very mild the past 2 nights only going down to 17C and 16C respectively (60-62F). The days have been reaching 18-19C as well (65F). There will be further warming into next week though with some low 70's F possible. Autumn/fall is definitely in full swing now though with windy, wetter conditions. The warm/mild maritime influence has taken over now from the dry subtropical ridging over summer, which brings the Med like conditions. Warm, humid air is still pumping up from France, Spain and north Africa though, but Atlantic maritime influence is more prominent.

Nowhere in the world is as mild as London right now for such a northern location. The nights especially are more like what you would expect at 31N than 51N in late October. Actually London's nights will be a bit warmer than Los Angeles nighttime lows over the next 10-14 days, although their daytime highs are higher due to stronger solar heating. The sun has lost most of its intensity here now. Impressively mild nights still though due to Atlantic influence and warm southerly air flow. My Abyssinian bananas are pumping out new growth still. Cannas still putting out flowers as well. 35 miles inland from the coast with no UHI.

@UK_Palmsand the nights in central London always tend to be warmer than the forecast. The low will probably be 17-18c on Thursday. Unfortunately at some point in November the jet stream will instead be bringing up air from far north in the Atlantic so the temperatures will be cooler.

Max of 21C / 70F here today. Some parts of southwest London in the 22-23C / 72-74F range. Great weekend ahead across the state and most of the region.. Enjoy it because things look to change in a big way by the middle to end of next week..

While our current Wx. U. 10 day outlook is a bit subdued compared to some other forecasts, reasonable shot of rain snow looks to be in the cards for the state / rest of the west, along with the first stretch of sub 70F highs of the season locally as a cold Nor. Pac. " Bowling Ball " plows it's way down the CA coast, and through the Southwest / Great Basin.

A balmy 18C / 64F at sunrise in London this morning. The lowest temperature in the UK last night was 6C / 43F up at 55N in the Scottish Highlands at 4000 feet. Ridiculously mild across the board for the last week of October.

The temperature has spiked up to 22C/ 72F here this afternoon under the clear skies. Tomorrow may be a bit warmer too with temps of 23C / 74F in London again. I will be making a trip to east London over the weekend to dig out more palms in the capital & specifically seeding Washingtonia’s, many of which I haven’t posted before. It will be my first time covering the east London palms properly. If I do go tomorrow, I will be in shorts and a t-shirt! 🤣

75f/24c in London very warm for the end of October for 51n it has been sun and clouds today. Since it's humid unlike during the summer it's pretty sticky outside. As the Jetstream moves further north in the next few days, the temperature will return back to normal for this time of the year. It looks like it might go slightly further south in the Atlantic again mid November, so November should be mild. The metoffice have said the UK will be 0.5-1c about average from Nov-Jan and 1-2 above average for Scandinavia. Hopefully a mild winter!
