In before Winter hits.

Well, just a month before winter. Unfortunately,  as many of you know, all my palms in the narrow garden sliver suffered a red mite infestation which lasted at least two months. Well, I wanted to take a pic of the Garten before winter begins. As I post this it's 3:15pm pst. A week ago it would have been 4:15pm. It's 85F. We hit 88F about two hours ago.

Well, here they are:

I am assuming you got the mite infestation under control because everything look pretty darn good from what I can see. All I know is that I have had palms look worse, a lot worse going into winter and they came out of it alive. Good luck!!!! By the way, is that your coconut palm on the right?

Thank you. 5 cocos and 1 B.alfie. yes. They are clean of the mites. (For now)

The one on the right is my first: 2.5 year old Golden Malayan dwarf. The others are 1 year olds and change...

Sorry to hear about the red mites. Hopefully they’ve been sent to insect heaven...Otherwise, things look really good!

They look great Alex, maybe stick a sheet of silver roofing insulation along the fence over winter to reflect the sun onto the palms, I do it for my coconut and it seems to help. Looking forward to seeing how they go over your winter, good luck mate!

I just may do that this winter. However the sheets will have to be placed on the side of the garden closest to the cars. Since sunlight hits the driveway and misses the actual garden due to the second story of my neighbors house which can be seen directly behind the fence. (Up till a year ago, my southern view was unobstructed)

Anyway, I just wilt-prufed the coconuts. We're getting harsh Santa Ana's around here. Let's see how they hold out come Spring.
