What is ashoka tree why it is different from other trees why it is grown

Hello and welcome to PalmTalk!

Looking up ashoka tree, I find two species that are very different, but both are sometimes called ashoka.

Is it Saraca asoca ?  Or is it Polyalthia longifolia ?

They're not palms obviously. They are amazing small trees however with dusty pink drooping new leaves and intense yellow/orange flower clusters. I have two young ones in my Northern California front yard and they've done well for three years so far. No blooms yet but several flushes of new leaves.

Check Wikipedia. There is lots of information there about this tree species.
