Unfortunately, thanks to "Florence" you may need a boat in order to find any palm specimens.  Good luck!

Raleigh was not hit hard. Just 3 days of continuous light rain. Raulston Arboretum has some nice palms, and certainly you must go to plant delights nursery, which will be having an open house weekend. Great place to buy, and their gardens are well worth the visit.

Raleigh Arboretum is very nice. You definitely need to stop at Plant Delights Nursery esp. if they are having an open house. They have several varieties of Sabal minor and Trachycarpus plus other great plants. I got my first Agave ovatifolia there after seeing their planted large speciman. Also saw my first Amorphophallus (voodoo lily) there. The nursery is not normally open for public drop-ins except several weekends per year.

Bahama Breeze used to have some nice Trachycarpus and Butia.  I've eaten there when the snow was knee deep thinking the Pindos were dead...but they lived.  Haven't been there in several years now.

BTW, here's the address.  3309 Wake Forest Rd, Raleigh, NC 27609

Land O Lakes FL, a suburb on the North Side of Tampa, FL

Summers are great, 90f/32c in the day & 70f/21c at night with plentiful rain & sun

Winters are subtropical with occasional frosts and freezes. Tropical cyclones happen.

We have a few Royal palms in the warm microclimates but Coconuts freeze.

Pullen Park has some giant trachycarpus and a few sabals.  Raleigh has more palms than what most people think. Gotta thank that red clay!
