Hell all

The first thing you are going to ask me is if I have pictures...unfortunately, I dont , tree is too high..but I can tell you that it seems my CIDP's emerging fronds from center are brown, maybe 12 inches from tip, other part is green...Not sure why. We have had alot of rain in FL this summer but the tree looks healthy, growing and green otherwise...seems recent....I use fertilizer spikes yearly

A few years ago I had palm skelotonizer which I beat easily with chemicals but this does not look like it is that destructive...any thoughts?

Thanks

So I don’t know what it is called but most of my Phoenix palms reclinata , canary and Sylvestris all have brown fronds it’s the inside of the spear it’s like the backing of the fronds or something hard to explain. But when the frond opens it turns into what I would call brown filaments . Which falls off . It basically holds the the spear together until the spear opens . Maybe it is that? Unless it has that yellow brown straw color which would mean you have a fungal disease going on in the crown.

Yes, its not the sheathing but exactly what you describe as dry and brown...if its a fungus it may be due to so much rain but maybe I can see if it grows out?...any other ideas?..Spay some Daconil in crown somehow?

Without photos no one can tell you for sure what's going, but fungus is a possibility. CIDPs are desert palms adapted to very arid climates. They don't appreciate FL humidity and rain, often look ratty and are prone to fungal infections. Maybe yours will grow out of its problem once dry season arrives.

Phoenix sylvestris is probably the best large Phoenix for FL.
