Acrocomia aculeata

Featured Replies

Well, today my handyman gave/handed over four Acrocomia aculeata seeds with the intention they will germinate.

He also provided 10 of its fruit. They are delicious. Quite fibrous (stick between your teeth). And the actual nut tastes very well.

If and when the seeds germinate I will hand them over to him. That palm is probably the most vicious palm on the face of the earth.  I can understand why it protects its fruit.

The locals in the tropics pick up the mature fruit which is on the ground, take out the outer shell, pout in molasses/ syrup on 5-6 nuts and sell 'em in small plastic bags.

No one is going to "climb" this particular palm tree.......

Beautiful palms in the right place. These are habitat pictures from our farm in El Salvador at about 850m above sea level. 20171130_090501.thumb.jpg.47901859bde46720171130_090424.thumb.jpg.52f16b14567fbb20171126_084022.thumb.jpg.8a2eec0e634b8e
