awesome Phoenix hybrid; roebelenii x ???

Featured Replies

This awesome Phoenix hybrid is growing near my Mom's house just west of downtown Orlando at an office complex. It is definitely a hybrid. It has Phoenix roebelenii as a dominant parent but what else is mixed in their is unknown. It looks like a giant P. roebelenii but with very colorful infructescences. I have been watching this palm for around 25 years. About 10 years ago they planted some P. roebelenii and now that they have grown you can see how the "giant" hybrid looms over them.

I have seen recently a picture of a roebelenii x paludosa hybrid. Simply jaw dropping.
