I was eating some watermelon in the dining room and happened to look out the back window and this caught my eye! Funny bcuz i was outside several times this morning and didn't notice it. First time ever blooming. Hopefully it sets seeds bcuz they will probably be pure as all my other Cocco's are way past blooming and in the fruit stage.

Mine is 3x taller and has never bloomed 

That is one beautiful little palm and even more so with the inflorescence.

Thanks, palm is 7ft tall overall, and was planted as a 7gal size in 2004. Here’s a pic from this morning that shows more perspective. palm to far right is fruiting C. Borhidiana.

Looks like it along with a really nice allagoptera on the left. 

Yes, Hyphaene recently had another huge trunk removed as it was going out over the pool. Another pic showing Allagoptera and Pseudophoenix in bloom.

Amazing!! How often do you water it? I thought my old man was healthy but yours is so much fuller and greener! 

I am in Zone 10b (just north of Miami) so perhaps I get a bit too much sun sometimes. Or maybe its the fertilizer? Really beautiful!

Such an amazing palm. I’m trying my best to germinate my own. No luck yet. No idea of freshness has been an issue so far 3.5 months on the heat mat

PolitoCABJ, it only gets water when it rains. I think the reason it's looking good is that it just replaced all the broken leaves that it had from Hurricane Irma, maybe the stress from that storm caused it to bloom? It only gets water when it rains. 

Rickybobby, in my experience, Cocco's will germinate (with heat) within a month- 6weeks tops. So chances are, yours are older seeds and may not germinate :(

These are a few yrs old, not sure of exact age.

Ok thank you. It seems a lot of the less common seeds I’ve gotten from seedman haven’t germinated. Meanwhile the more common one so in less than 2 weeks. I have my mat set anywhere. Between 85 to 95 depending on my mood

Very nice palm. If tribbles had a palm look-a-like it would be the coccothrinax. Now that is a fuzzy palm.

Seeds are really coming along now, a few just starting to turn purple.

It is odd how the leaves of crinita morph into something much different once mature.
