Hey y'all :)

I'm planning a road trip this year in Europe and would like to visit some the best botanical gardens.

What do you think are the best botanical gardens with the most species of palm trees in Europe? :)

Cheers

Hey,

Two of the best, palm wise, that I know of are in Malaga, Spain. Parque de la Concepción and Molino de Inca...

Probably the best is the Palmetum in Tenerife, if you count that as Europe (Canary Islands off African coast)...

I think there are others in Spain, France, Italy maybe..  try this site http://palmerasyjardines.com/index.php/en/gardens

Hope that's a start...

Definitely the Palmetum in Santa Cruz, Tenerife is the best I have visited. Also a must is the botanical garden in Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife.

For those of you that frequent Facebook, I’ve set up a group called “Pommy palms”, where many of the palms I’ve seen since emigrating to Australia have been documented. If you wish to be a member, copy and paste “Pommy palms” into Facebook to view the page and click “Join group”.

Of course, the most species are the palmetum in Tenerife and la Concepción in Málaga.

El Huerto del Cura in Elche, has a few rare palms, but you can see the Elche area with thousands and thousands of date palm trees.

El Botanic de Valencia is like el Huerto del Cura, only a few rare palms, but has two amazing, enormous, incredible, Sabal dominguensis. Only for see this Sabal, you must travel to Valencia.

There are lots of botanic gardens in Europe, like those in Leiden and Amsterdam in Holland. Just google and you will find them. I think of Kew in Londen and Der Palmengarten in Frankfurt. The isle of Madeira has nice gardens too. In Spain, there is Marimurtra in Blanes, in France in Antibe the Station de Botanic and near Menton Hanbury Gardens. In southern Europe, there are a lot of gardens, both public and private, that host nice palms and other exotics.

I also liked the Conception park in Malaga and the Botanical garden in Puerto de la Cruz in Tenerife. I would also recommend the Loro park in Puerto de la Cruz. Lots of kentias, coconuts and others. As for Madeira the Monte palace gardens is a must, but generally all the island is like a botanical garden.

There's also Copenhagen botanical garden in Denmark. There's some Trachys on open land and in the biggest greenhouse there's some other specimens.

Arboretum Trsteno/Dubrovnik (Croatia). It is one of the oldest botanical gardens in Europe ( exist since 15. century). As for palms botanical gardens on Island Lokrum near Dubrovnik has alot of different palms.
