Livinstona Jenkinsiana

Featured Replies

Someone online is selling seeds from Livinstona Jenkinsiana. Can anyone tell me about this palm. Is it as cold hardy as L. Chinesis?  I see no data in the freeze/data section of the forum for this palm. Are they just using a misnomer for another type of Livinstona? I appreciate your your help.

Livistona jenkinsiana is a valid species native from India to southern China. It is more tender than L. chinensis but hardier than Saribus rotundifolius (formerly Livistona). Low 20sF will kill it, good palm for the warmer parts of zone 9b.

Valid species.  I find it very slow.

And a good looking palm.:D

Is it synonymous with L. speciosa?

Thanks for the info. I am nowhere near 9b though. The picture of them (if true), portrayed a nice looking palm, a bit like a T. Fortunei.  Thanks again for the response,

Here two pics of Livistona jenkinsiana taken 40 years ago in its habitat in Thailand:
