Hi Kris,

The two Borassus flabellifer I grew from seeds you sent me long ago are doing fine and getting more beautiful by the year. One of them just missed being crushed by one of our rainbow eucalyptis during Hurricane Irma. I made sure to replant with a small lemon bay rum tree so that won't happen again. Below is a photo of my second Borassus I took a week ago.

Cape Coral (It's Just Paradise)

Zone 10A on the Isabelle Canal
Elevation: 15 feet

I'd like to be under the sea in an octopus' garden in the shade.

Dear Meg,

Very happy to hear this. Hope they grow big and add more beauty to your garden.

All the best,

Kris.

Do you know how old the palm is Meg?  She’s a beauty!

I would guess about 8 years old. Even though she came from the same seed batch Kris sent to me, she germinated a year after her sibling. You really have to be patient and not give up on these seeds - I'm talking 2-3 years. Seeds are size of a fist and covered with "hair", look just like Tribbles from an episode of the original Star Trek series. Really cool.

I’m in love with the big fan palms, Borassus is one of my favorites.  My best one, 5 g. Lowes bucket for scale.

Beautiful thread - photos from habitat and Florida, looking great in both places!

Thank you for sharing!

PS: Those seeds are looking huge!

best regards

Now coming to the fruits and seeds,This variety has two forms one is standard form(Regular) and the other is Robusta.

The robustas are heavy trunking version which also puts out really big seeds too..
