A while back someone mentioned this as an insecticide. Has anyone tried it? Does anyone remember the mix ratio?

I have some Aloe Bainsii that are infested, and Malathion (my weapon of choice) harms tree aloes. Was thinking of giving this a try.

If global warming means I can grow Cocos Nucifera, then bring it on....

ACK!

It wouldn't surprise me if Listerine killed bugs.  The last time I tried that [fecal material] it tasted like it would kill me!

Hmm.  Murphy's Oil soap might be worth trying . . .

Thanks for the tip!

Hey Dave, you think Listerene is bad, you should try Corsadyl!

That would not only kill the bugs but also the plant and the container it was in! Great to get rid of mouth ulcers but you cant taste anything for a week!

I heard dollar store mint mouthwash and Murphy's oil soap in a 50/50 mixture.

I think Listerine would work for fungus on plants.  I keep a big bottle in my barn.  I use it on my horses for any kind of fungal problem.  They get rain rot or greasy heal in the wet season and Listerine works better than anything the vet can sell me.  And it is a lot cheaper!  Told my sister about it and she uses it on her long-haired dog for summer itch or rain rot.  It works for nail fungus as well.  Don't know why it wouldn't work on plants.

I don't know about a mixture but why not try it?

Steve,

Got the following from the Philly Flower Show....

For Orchids, houseplants, etc ..........

1 quart of hot water with:

3 drops dishwashing soap

1/4 teaspoon straight amonia

1/4 cup listerine

Began using it on my orchids.  Works great; seems to control aphids & mites for me.
