S. romanzoffiana mutation?

With Syagrus romanzoffiana being as common as it is, there are bound to be odd-ball specimens that show up from time to time. I drove by this one today and took a quick picture while waiting at a red light. It's obviously very different in form from all of the other S. rommies. It's very upright, and the short spacing between the growth rings suggests perhaps it grows slower or more compact than the others. Could this just be a natural mutation? A hybrid perhaps? Or could it be due to cultural factors such as access to water or nutrients?

(FYI, growing in Fresno - inland, central California))

Can't say for sure. But it looks overpruned and underfed.

Overpruned, sure, but clearly it is different than the others anyway, the leaves are less plumose. I think it's a nice find, would be better with better care. I can't say if it's just genetic variation or if there is some kind of hybridizing going on.

Corpus Christi, TX, near salt water, zone 9b/10a! Except when it isn't and everything gets nuked.

I have found a similarly looking specimen in Nauplion, Greece. After a relevant post in the European Palm Society, I came to knwoledge that this form used to be common in a certain location in NZ.

@Phoenikakias do you think this variation would come true from seed? If it is a variation, and not a mutation perhaps the traits would pass on to its offspring. It has a slight resemblance to the famed abreojos.
