Houdy palmstalkers,

Just like to know, how you all go about sourcing palm seeds which are fresh and from anywhere in the world.

Do you go for a palm seed company or direct source?

Rarepalmseeds.com has a good selection of seeds both rare and common. People on this forum also sell and sometimes give away seeds  as well.

Customs have a list of which Palm seeds that are allowed to be sent into Australia. If it is not on the list they may confiscate them. Rare Palm seeds are good but I would only buy seeds that are marked as new.

Thanks Palms4Steve,

I'll check that list out.

Yes I've bought some areca vestiaria seeds off RPS, with 0% germination rate.

I know they have a very short shelf life.

I contacted Dean from tropiscape In Hawaii and I bought 100 areca vestiaria seeds off him.

The colour looked completely different not dark brown like the ones from RPS but light brown with clear patterns through it.

He basically went to the mother plant and harvested them for me cleaned and packed and shipped within 3 days, fresh as a daisy. He was such a legend. 85 of them germinated!

But  I can't see anymore seeds for-sale on his sight.  I need to find direct source like Dean, your guaranteed of fresh seeds.

Thank you for the info, the search is on....

I normally now go through rare Palm seeds. I have also purchased through a uk seed company and my most rare palms were sourced through a rare Palm nursery.
