Are all Butia fruit species edible

Just curious... I would like to add them to my landscape, It would be a bonus to harvest fruit.

Well, they are edible but they aren't the tastiest thing to eat. The only time i find them close to palatable is after they ripen, fall on the ground and then ripen another day or two. 

I personally have liked every Butia fruit I have tried (ripe of course) but there is definite variation in taste as well as fruit color.  Some varieties are sweeter than others and you can smell the ripe fruit on the tree as you approach it!  I really enjoy the fruit by itself but it makes awesome jelly which I have made myself a few times.  The best Butia fruit I every tried came from a tree on the Texas A&M campus but the fruit that isn't as sweet tends to make the best tasting jelly.  Syagrus romanzoffiana fruit is very similar in taste.  I have read in an article by Geoff Stein where nearly all palm fruit is edible (only a few are toxic) but the majority of them probably taste terrible!  I'd be reluctant to try a fruit I didn't already know tasted good.

I would suspect that all Butia species have edible fruit, but I'm not sure about that since there are so many species I know nothing about.
