Phytelephas tenuicaulis

Aloha Pete, here are some photos of P. tenuicaulis in habitat taken back in 2008. This is along the Napo river in Ecuador in the upper ring of the Amazon basin. Extremely palm rich and so incredibly beautiful. It's by far my most exhilarating vacation ever in every way.

I think the most amazing aspect was the lack of mosquitos and biting insects. Because of the brackish acidic water there were none, never got one bite. The forest understory was heaven, sweet smelling, warm, damp, quiet, the floor soft, and palms everywhere.

Anyway, here's an idea of where this palm lives, by the thousands.
