Calyptrocalyx sp. Sanumb

Planted out last december from a 1 gal. Seems to like it's new spot in the garden all day shade and constantly moist soil. Has lost some color on the emerging leaf though hmm? Even has a couple suckers coming off the side now. 1st sp of this genus that I have planted out. Let's see some more.

One of my favourite genus.

Has sp. Sanumb new red leaves?

They do real well down here in south Florida.

Dominic, you're gonna really like this palm. Good scale, pretty carefree, and attractive. Glad to hear that they grow well in Florida too.

Here are a few pics from the Big Island.

I would say redish in color on this plant anyway, has faded a little since going in the ground but still nice to look at.

Very nice Tim, great pics glad to hear it's carefree that has been my experience also thus far. I'm starting to really dig this genus.

Jeff is right--a robust and gorgeous palm, in my garden.

Thought I’d post a current photo from an earlier one above in this thread. The mature habit is so different from the juvenile form, from small, round, and bush like, to a rather elegant form accenting the long pinnae. Seeds and germinates regularly and easily. It does have a reddish/pinkish new leaf.

BTW, the round, red, pendant seeds in the photo are from a Licuala in the background.
