Cocos nucifera Dwarf Red Spicata Twins

Featured Replies

One of my Dwarf Red Spicata coconuts has germinated twin embryos. So, can anyone tell me whether I have hope that both twins will survive to give me natural Red Spicata doubles? Or will they compete until one overcomes the other?

I'd like to be under the sea in an octopus' garden in the shade.

Coconuts are one of the more amenable palms to this occurrence because of their ability to lean away from each other. Any nutrient issues from the competition won't arise under normal care.

Looks like you got yourself the cheap double coconut! Coccosoid palms do this fairly often. If you grow it out, it should stay a double.

How is this twin doing for you Meg?  Have an updated picture?  The one I got from you is looking great.  Single but deep rich color.

Wonderful babies!   Can't wait to see what they will look like as they grow up.  We would LOVE an update!   Congrats on your twins!
