I have sort of a blue/grey thing going on in this area of the garden with blue Lantanias, Cycas angulata , Cycas carinsiana and a silver buttonwood tree.

Very nice n BLUE.

Hawaii Island (Big Island), leeward coast, 19 degrees N. latitude, south Kona mauka at approx. 380m (1,250 ft.) and about 1.6 km (1-mile) upslope from ocean.

No record of a hurricane passing over this island (yet!).

Summer maximum rainfall - variable averaging 900-1150mm (35-45") - Perfect drainage on black volcanic rocky soil.

Nice sunsets!

I think about 16 years from seed. They are very slow to start and need to be planted out as soon as possible.

No reason for this other than I just thought everything looked so fresh after last nights cool rains.

Among all the Coccothrinax, C. mac. "Azul" is easily the most stunning.. especially seedlings which exhibit this degree of color. Thanks for sharing Scott.

I am taking offense--just one picture of that thing?! Can we please have close ups of it all over??? especially that root initiation zone! Looks like it has elephantitus... what's the ph around there, would you guess? AMAZING palm and not your standard 'azul'--those palms have a heavy costapalmate leaf, where yours looks to be pretty flat...

I am not sure of the ph but my "soil" is volcanic sand which has a very high iron content.  The other C.macroglossas growing within meters of this one are much smaller and do not have the intense color this one has.
